Infants who receive massage regularly may also sleep better, be less gassy and colicky, have better body awareness as well as more regular digestion.

Risks with Massage Therapy
In general massage is considered to be relatively safe when performed with trained hands. There could be some general soreness or flu like symptoms after the session or the next day. The soreness is comparable to soreness from working out to excessively.

If you are pregnant it is a wonderful time to enjoy the calming effects of a massage, but only after the first trimester. If you are having a high-risk pregnancy always ask your doctor first.

People with congestive heart failure, kidney failure, phlebitis, blood clots, bleeding disorders, and contagious skin conditions should avoid massage. If you have cancer you must check with your doctor before considering massages because you should not receive such treatments under certain circumstances.  During flair ups of rheumatoid arthritis, eczema, massage is not indicated.  Also those with extreme osteoporosis, high fever, acute surgery should also avoid massage.
